Chapter 10 Ring Door Symbols

Set the inner ring to the snake, the middle to the arrow, and the outer to the angular mark; then align the 3 colored beams with the door.

Set the rings, then light the door

Inner green ring: circular snake. Middle red ring: arrow. Outer blue ring: the angular mark associated with the spear-and-large-shield warrior. First prepare Faro’s light. After setting the rings, align the sphere’s colored beams with the door’s matching receivers.

Look for the large door with 3 concentric rings, 3 controls, and 6 statue clues around the room. The earlier Chapter 10 cavern route with marked passages is a separate obstacle.

Route the light to Faro’s platform

If Faro is not already at the raised reflector, complete this setup before using the door’s metal plate:

  1. In the main area, find the cave behind a reflector on the right. Climb inside, activate its light, and aim it at the reflector on the left.
  2. At that reflector, redirect the beam to the reflector high in the rocks on the right.
  3. From the high reflector, aim toward the distant reflector on the left.
  4. Defeat the soldiers, follow the beam to the target platform, and help Faro climb up to its reflector.

With Faro in position, check that the door’s metal plate is illuminated.

Use the book and the 6 statues

The book pairs the equipment belonging to each warrior: bow with arrow, sword with round shield, and spear with large shield. The statues supply the corresponding ring and symbol information.

Use the light source at the back of the area when inspecting the clues. With the sphere’s Light Reveal, examine each statue for its additional marking: it identifies either a door symbol or a ring. Pair the statues using the book to connect those clues. Check the statue on the raised wooden structure as well as the ones at floor level.

This is also the safest way to recognize the outer symbol. Written guides describe its shape differently; those letter comparisons are visual nicknames, not an official symbol name.

Which symbol goes on each ring?

The controls below are listed from left to right while facing the door.

ControlRing and colorSymbol to select
LeftInner, greenSnake curled into a circle
MiddleMiddle, redArrow
RightOuter, blueAngular mark from the spear-and-large-shield statue pair

Turn each ring with its matching control. For the outer ring, The Big Lead describes a squared-H shape, while GameSpew calls it an M with a handle. Match the revealed statue glyph to the door rather than looking for an ordinary printed H or M. There is no fixed number of turns to count if you have already moved the controls.

Finish with the colored beams

  1. After selecting all 3 symbols and completing Faro’s light setup, stand on the illuminated metal plate in front of the door.
  2. Use Light Splitting and aim green at the green receiver.
  3. Rotate the split beams so red and blue reach their matching receivers as well.
  4. When the ring settings and light alignment are correct, the door slides open. Continue through it.

No light on the metal plate? Check the reflector chain and help Faro onto the target platform before attempting Light Splitting.

If the door stays shut, first check that all 3 receivers are illuminated. Then recheck the selected symbols, especially the outer angular mark. Correct ring settings alone do not replace the final light interaction.

Sources and limits

The light-routing and Faro-platform setup follows GameSpew’s Chapter 10 section. Ring assignments and the final opening sequence are supported by Ryan Woodrow’s Chapter 10 door guide for The Big Lead, published August 28, 2026, and the Chapter 10 section of Richard Seagrave’s GameSpew walkthrough, published August 27. Their outer-symbol nicknames differ; the statue-pair identification above avoids treating either nickname as an official name.

This guide reconstructs the ring-door task from written sources. It does not cover the preceding cavern maze or claim an in-house gameplay test. Return to puzzles by location for other rooms.
