Find the obstacle blocking the beam
Keep the beam moving through the lenses by clearing each blocked control and opening the route ahead. Patera is a sequence of rooms and traversal sections, rather than a single colored-beam combination.
- At the opening circular room: use Faro and the paired controls to clear the exit.
- A beam prevents you from reaching a corrupted lens crank: move the shield on its rail before turning the beam.
- Separated from Faro or near the Petrified Soldiers: continue to the next lens control.
- At rotating platforms, a creature, or the large lever: follow the platform and brazier sequence.
The route below covers the beam-and-lens progression before the mines. It leaves the later boss fight and story outcome outside the guide.
Redirect the opening beam
- From the statue’s beam, follow the right-hand gallery and the opening down to the lower circular room.
- Find the crank that rotates the beam and the other control farther to the right. Have Faro hold the latter control while you operate the rotating beam.
- Sweep the beam across the corruption blocking the route. Once the exit is clear, continue to the elevator and use its lever to descend.
Protect yourself before clearing the lens crank
At the misaligned lens, the left-hand crank is blocked by corruption. The beam control farther along can clear it, but the beam’s path also crosses your working position.
- Find the large movable barricade on its rail. Push it into position to shield you and Faro from the beam.
- Use the beam control with that cover in place. Burn away the corruption in the passage and around the blocked lens crank.
- Return to the cleared crank and turn it to aim the lens downward.
- Follow the route onward, deal with the soldiers, and descend the scaffolding to the brazier.
- Activating the light wakes the Petrified Soldiers. Stagger one with attacks, use a Critical Strike to expose its weak point, then use Light Concentration from the light to finish it.
- Clear the corruption blocking your route and use the platform lever to descend.
If the beam still threatens the control position, check the barricade’s position before trying to turn it again. If the lens will not redirect, make sure you returned to the lens crank after clearing it; the clearing beam has a different job.
Rejoin Faro and clear the next control
After the next descent, the broken platform separates you from Faro. Use the grapnel, scaffolding, and swing points to continue until you reach the area with 2 braziers. Use their light to fight the Petrified Soldiers. Faro rejoins you and helps you climb onward.
Follow the path around the lens, then the wooden platforms and passage to the lower area. After clearing the enemies, use Faro’s boost to reach the scaffolding; he operates a crank to lift your platform.
In the next passage, avoid the blue traces while moving past the Petrified Soldiers. When you reach the corrupted lens crank:
- Take the passage to the right and continue to the light from above.
- Stand in that light and use Light Concentration to clear the corrupted doorway.
- Go through and operate the beam control to burn away the corruption in the main corridor.
- Return to the newly accessible lens crank and align the lens to continue the beam.
The side route is how you unblock the main crank; repeatedly interacting with the covered crank will not advance this section.
Cross the platforms before the creature section
Continue down by the broken lift, fight the next Petrified Soldiers, and clear the corrupted gate. If the soldiers block the passage’s exit, lure them away and loop around them to reach it.
Climb onward to the section where Faro speaks from the other side. Cross the rotating platforms beneath the beam first; Faro opens a lens so you can continue. That opening comes before the creature-and-zipline section.
At the next closed lens, follow the passage on the right and crawl through the opening on the left. You can see the large lever beyond this route.
- When the creature appears, move carefully to the brazier and activate it.
- Use Light Concentration to clear the corruption blocking the way forward.
- Go through the right-hand doorway and grapple up to the higher brazier.
- Strike that brazier and use its light to drive the creature back. Take the opening this creates to use the zipline and reach the large lever.
- Turn the lever to open the lens and let the beam through. This visible opening is the success check for the lever task.
Drop back onto the platforms and follow the beam across the rotating sections toward Faro. Continue by the grapnel route and the remaining corrupted room to rejoin him before the mines. If you are still on the near side of the zipline, clearing the creature’s path alone has not opened the lens: you still need to reach and turn the large lever.
Sources and limits
The route follows Muhit Rahman’s Chapter 11 Patera walkthrough for Into Indie Games, published August 27, 2026. The Chapter 11 section of Richard Seagrave’s GameSpew walkthrough, published the same day, also supports the shield, lens controls, and later traversal sequence.
This is a written-source route, not an in-house playthrough. The guide does not assign a fixed total to every lens interaction, include optional collectibles, or cover the later boss encounter. For a single colored-light room, check puzzles by location before applying these directions.
